Survey Finds Canada To Be ‘Safe And Stable’ For Foreign Students

It is fair to say that 2020 has not been the best year for international students with plans to fly abroad and settle in a different country. The pandemic led to the closure of country borders all over the world early in the year, and immigration processes slowed down drastically. Students with approved study visas were also not allowed to travel. It seemed that virtual education was the only way international students could begin their courses.

Current State

Now in December 2020, the situation has slightly improved. While some countries are still struggling, Canada is on its way to a slow but steady recovery. Canada tried to accommodate the needs of international students even at the height of the pandemic and now they are trying to introduce further measures so that Canadian DLIs with COVID-19 readiness plans can hold regular classes.

New survey results

Canada’s approach has definitely paid off as evidenced by two surveys that were conducted by Navitas Insights. It was voted as one of the best countries to provide safety and stability to international students. The pandemic, instead of negatively affecting Canada’s popularity among international students, has positively impacted Canada’s position as a top study destination.

Since Canada is known to welcome international students with open arms, it is the best of both worlds. The first survey took place in May 2020 and then the second one followed in September 2020. Canada held its high position in the list firmly through both the stages of the survey.

If you are a prospective international student planning to come to Canada, work on securing your study permit as soon as possible.
