Saskatchewan Issues Invitations To 299 Express Entry Candidates

The province of Saskatchewan decided to hold a new draw on February 25, keeping with the trend of Canadian provinces holding more draws at the beginning of the year. A total of 299 candidates received invitations and they will now be able to submit an application for a provincial nomination. Being nominated by Saskatchewan will bring them closer to their dream of obtaining permanent residence.

How does Saskatchewan select candidates?

The Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program usually relies on the Expression of Interest or EOI system to pick the candidates who have the best chance of succeeding in the provincial labor market.

The candidates have to convince the province that they are committed to the idea of building a life in Saskatchewan through their work experience, language skills, education and associations with the province.

Saskatchewan ranks candidates by giving them a score out of 100 on the basis of the International Skilled Worker Points Assessment Grid. The people who manage secure the highest points usually receive an invitation.

Details of the draw

Saskatchewan targeted the International Skilled Worker category for the February 25 draw. All the invited candidates were eligible for the Express Entry subcategory. In order to receive an invitation, the candidates were required to have a minimum EOI score of 70.

The selected candidates also boasted of work experience in any of the 70 in-demand professions listed by the province on their official web page. This is because the province wants to fill their labor gaps through immigration.
