Prince Edward Island releases details of latest PNP draw

The Canadian province of Prince Edward Island has been conducting regular PNP draws since the beginning of 2021 to invite more skilled candidates into the province. Considering that Canada wants to admit 80.800 immigrants via PNPs this year, all the provinces are doing their part. The last draw took place on April 15 and the province has released information regarding it.

Provincial Nominee Programs or PNPs are an integral part of the Canadian immigration system. They allow territories and provinces to pick immigration candidates who are suitable for their labor requirements. Prince Edward Island organises its provincial nominee program based on the guidelines of the federal system.

Details of the draw

The April 15 draw saw the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) issuing 156 invitations. Candidates belonging to the Labour Impact and Express Entry streams received 140 of the invitations. The province invited 16 candidates belonging to the Business Impact stream who had at least 75 points.

The Express Entry category of the PEI PNP acts as an enhanced PNP under the federal Express Entry system. Skilled eligible candidates are assigned a score on the basis of the Comprehensive Ranking System. Human capital factors like age, work experience and educational qualifications are taken into consideration when evaluating a candidate.

All the candidates who received invitations during the draw will now be able to submit applications for a provincial nomination. The benefit of receiving a provincial nomination is that the chosen candidates will receive an additional 600 points. The extra points will give them a competitive advantage.
