Prince Edward Island Issues 143 Invitations to Eligible Candidates

prince edward island draw

Canadian provinces have been organizing more draws than usual this year to compensate for the immigration losses suffered by the country last year.

Prince Edward Island organized its most recent draw via the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) on September 16. The PNP allows Canadian provinces and territories to select candidates from the Express Entry pool who will be able to fill certain labor gaps in the market. The Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) operates within federally approved guidelines. Prince Edward Island has been actively inviting candidates this year. The total number of invitations issued by the province in 2021, including the latest draw is 1,337.

Details of the draw

The September 16 draw saw 143 immigration candidates receiving invitations to apply for a provincial nomination. Business Impact candidates received 9 of the invitations, and their required score was 72 points as per the rules of the immigration system. The other 129 invitations were assigned to candidates belonging to the Labour Impact and Express Entry categories.

The Express Entry Category functions as an enhanced PNP and is directly associated with the Express Entry system of the federal government. Candidates are usually assigned a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score on the basis of their age, educational qualifications, language skills and work experience. They had to register their Expression of Interest (EOI) profile to be eligible. Provincial nominations help Express Entry candidates gain an additional 600 CRS points, which increases their chances of getting an Invitation to Apply (ITA) in the next federal Express Entry draw.
