PEI PNP Draw Issues Invitations To 211 Candidates To Apply For PNP
Prince Edward Island recently published the details of its immigration draw held on October 15. The province decided to invite candidates in the Express Entry, Business Impact, and Labour Impact immigration categories.
Details of the draw
The Provincial Nominee Program of Prince Edward Island (PEI PNP) distributed a total of 211 invitations. A majority of the invitations, 184 to be precise, were assigned to candidates belonging to the Express Entry and Labour Impact categories. The other 27 invitations were given to Business Impact candidates who fulfilled the minimum point threshold requirement of 97.
Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) give provinces and territories in Canada the chance to pick immigration candidates who satisfy their labor market needs. In most cases, the provincial programs work alongside the federal Express Entry system of Canada. The Express Entry Category of the PEI PNP is an enhanced PNP. This means that it functions within the government’s Express Entry system.
The PEI PNP has not provided a breakdown of the number of invitations given to Express Entry and Labor Impact candidates or the minimum EOI score needed for each category.
Why Express Entry
Express Entry is responsible for the management of applications under three economic-class immigration categories: Federal Skilled Trades Program, Federal Skilled Worker Program, and Canadian Experience Class. Candidates who satisfy all the eligibility requirements are assigned a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score based on their age, education, work experience, and language abilities. Express Entry candidates who get provincially nominated receive 600 extra CRS points.
To get a provincial nomination from PEI, candidates should create an EOI profile with the PEI PNP.
