Parents and Grandparents Program 2020 Invitations Sent Out

The Parents and Grandparents Program or PGP 2020 had to be delayed last year due to the pandemic. With coronavirus seeing federal offices into a temporary shutdown, it was not until October that the Expression of Interest window for PGP 2020 was opened by the Canadian government.

The PGP happens to be one of the most popular sponsorship programs in Canada because it allows citizens and permanent citizens to bring their families to Canada in a hassle-free manner by offering sponsorship. Parents and grandparents can successfully become Canadian permanent residents and have access to all the benefits if they are approved under the program. If nothing, 2020 has definitely taught us the value of family and it is likely that the program will be even more popular in 2021.

Sending out invitations

IRCC held the lottery for PGP 2020 just a little while ago and then started sending out the invitations over the next ten days. All the invitations to apply for the PGP 2020 have now been sent out. It was declared officially by the Government of Canada.

Potential sponsors received invitations if their names and applications were chosen in the lottery. Anyone interested in the program had submitted their Interest to Sponsor form in the application window. All the candidates who have received invitations will now be able to send in their applications and other important documents within the next two months. If their applications are approved, they will be able to sponsor their parents and grandparents.

Candidates can check their invitation status through IRCC’s website. According to IRCC, up to 10,000 people will be approved for providing sponsorship this year.
