New Manitoba PNP draw distributes 174 invitations
Manitoba organized its 94th Provincial Nominee Program ( PNP) draw on July 16, 2020. Skilled workers and international student graduates, living in Manitoba or abroad, received invitations to apply for a provincial nomination. The draw distributed a total of 174 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) among immigration candidates looking to secure permanent residence.
The main objective of LAAs is to issue invitations for candidates and allow them to submit an application for a provincial nomination. Having a provincial nomination can significantly help candidates on their journey towards attaining permanent residence in Canada.
Details of the draw:
During the July 16 draw, Manitoba issued LAAs to candidates belonging to the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) under the following streams:
- International Education Stream: 29
- Skilled Workers in Manitoba: 134
- Skilled Workers Overseas: 11
Among the 174 invited candidates, 18 candidates already had profiles registered in the federal Express Entry system. With this draw, the total number of candidates to receive LAAs from New Manitoba comes to 2,634 this year.
For the July 16 draw, successful candidates had to secure a minimum of 430 points in order to secure an LAA under the Skilled Workers in Manitoba stream. On the other hand, Skilled Workers Overseas candidates were required to have a minimum score of 811 points.
Manitoba’s EOI system
It is mandatory for immigration candidates to register an Expression of Interest (EOI) under the MPNP so they can receive an LAA via the Skilled Workers Overseas and Skilled Workers in Manitoba categories. Manitoba’s system assigns ranks to candidates based on human capital characteristics like language skills, work experience, education, Manitoba connections, and more.
Categories such as the Skilled Workers Overseas and Skilled Workers in Manitoba let the province nominate skilled workers who will be able to support Manitoba’s labor market requirements.
