New Express Entry Draw Held by Canada for CEC Candidates

Canada has been organizing federal draws regularly in order to invite more skilled candidates into the country. After the pandemic decreased the immigration rate in 2020, the country wants to welcome skilled workers who will be able to contribute to the economy.

Details of the draw

The latest draw took place on August 19, and it targeted candidates registered in the Canadian Experience Class (CEC). A total of 3000 candidates with profiles in the Express Entry system received invitations to apply for permanent residence. The candidates were required to have a minimum score of 403 in order to secure an invitation in this draw.

It is also important to note that Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) follows the tie-break rule when it comes to federal draws even if there was no official tie. The candidates who satisfied the score requirement were invited only if they completed their Express Entry profiles prior to 10:13:57 UTC on August 01, 2021.

New developments

The travel restrictions imposed by Canada to keep the spread of coronavirus in check have led IRCC to hold exclusive draws for candidates in the CEC and Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). This is because the candidates registered in these programs have a higher chance of being in Canada already. They will not have to undertake a journey on receiving the invitation. CEC candidates, in particular tend to be in Canada because the program requires them to gain work experience in the country.

IRCC might resume its regular draws soon now that vaccines are being distributed.
