More Than 600 Invitations Issued in The New Express Entry Draw

Since the dip in the immigration numbers last year, Canada has been organizing draws regularly to invite skilled candidates who will be able to contribute to the economy. The latest Express Entry draw took place on September 1, and more than 600 invitations to apply for permanent residence were issued by the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

Details of the draw

A total of 635 invitations were issued to candidates in the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) on September 1. They were already registered in the Express Entry pool. They will now have a chance to become permanent residents as long as they submit their applications on time.

The candidates needed a minimum score of 764 to receive an invitation. The cut-off was considerably higher than other draws because the chosen candidates had already acquired provincial nominations. They had been rewarded 600 extra CRS points, which automatically gave them an advantage.

The tie-breaker rule is honored by IRCC for every draw, even if there was no actual tie. In the September 1 draw, only those candidates received invitations who satisfied the minimum score cut-off and had completed their applications prior to April 12, 2021, at 12:21:45 UTC.

IRCC has been prioritizing PNP draws in recent months because the candidates are more likely to participate actively if they are already within the country. The invited candidates will be able to submit their applications for permanent residence within two months. It is important to remember that the application does not guarantee permanent residence.
