Canada Organizes Huge Express Entry Draw

Canada continues to impress with its determined efforts to invite more immigrants this year and make up for last year’s low figures. On March 18, Canada hosted yet another Express Entry draw to invite 5000 eligible candidates who will now be able to submit their applications for permanent residence.

Requirements

In order to receive an Invitation to Apply or ITA, the candidates needed to fulfill the requirements of the Canadian Experience Class or CEC. They were also required to have a minimum score of 449. The candidates who had registered in the Express Entry pool prior to February 18, 2021 UTC were the ones to be invited in this draw in accordance with the tie-break rule.

The candidates needed to have a year of full-time work experience in a skilled profession as a basic requirement. It was also mandatory for them to be fluent in their language skills.

Since the pandemic has forced Canada to close its borders and enforce strict rules regarding international travel, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada or IRCC is finding it prudent to prioritize immigration applicants who are in Canada and will not have to travel because of the invitation.

IRCC data from March shows that 77% of candidates in Canada who are a part of the Express Entry pool can be considered eligible for CEC.

The last CEC-only draw had taken place on February 14 when Canada had invited 27,332 immigration candidates.

Canada has decided to invite a larger number of immigrants this year in order to make up for the low numbers of 2020. The country aims to invite 401,00 newcomers this year.
