Canada Issues ITAs To 183 Candidates In Express Entry Pool

Becoming permanent residents in Canada can be a lengthy process but it is completely worth all the effort. On March 17, Canada issued 183 invitations to immigration candidates in the Express Entry pool. The chosen candidates will now submit their applications for permanent residence.

The invitations went to candidates with a minimum CRS score of 682.

Requirements

Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada or IRCC deliberately set the minimum score on the higher side because all the chosen candidates had already managed to secure provincial nominations via the Provincial Nominee Program or PNP.

Candidates in the Express Entry pool are usually assigned CRS scores on the basis of their age, educational qualifications, work experience and other human capital factors.

However, a provincial nomination boosts their score by a further 600 points. The extra points, when added to the original score, give these candidates a clear advantage over other candidates.

The minimum score of 682 was inclusive of the extra points which means that the candidates actually needed to have only 82 points effectively.

The candidates who had registered their Express Entry profiles prior to March 4, 2021, 16:56:20 UTC were the ones chosen in this draw based on the tie-break rule.

Canada conducted two PNP-specific draws consecutively which is not very common. However, this goes on to show that Canada is focusing on inviting more eligible and skilled immigration candidates who will be able to help with the labor deficits of each particular province.
