British Columbia PNP distributes invitations among tech workers during the draw

Canadian provinces have been successful in continuing immigration even amidst the pandemic. British Columbia recently organized a new draw that invited provincial nominee applicants with tech skills to apply for permanent residence.

On August 25, the BC PNP issued the invitations to apply for a provincial nomination among international students and foreign tech workers. B.C. organizes Tech Pilot draws weekly to invite candidates who are qualified for the technology sector. Candidates can be invited to submit an application for a provincial nomination under this program if they hold a job offer in any of the 29 eligible occupations.

The Tech Pilot was introduced back in 2017, in order to provide some extra support to the technology sector in British Columbia. It helps in the process of recruiting IT workers who will be able to address current labor market needs.

The invitations issued via the Tech Pilot draw were assigned to candidates belonging to the International Graduate and Skilled Worker subcategories in the Skills Immigration and Express Entry BC (EEBC) streams.

Candidates in both the subcategories had to secure a minimum score of 80 in order to qualify for the draw. There was no change in the required score as compared to the previous tech draw that took place on August 11.

Candidates who want to be eligible for the Tech Pilot must be registered in one of the existing provincial immigration streams available in British Columbia. They should also have a valid job offer for a minimum duration of 12 months in any of the Tech Pilot’s listed occupations.

Prospective candidates should start the application process by creating a profile via the BC PNP’s online portal and registering under the Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS).
