British Columbia Organizes a New PNP Draw via Tech Pilot Program

Canadian provinces have been organizing draws regularly in 2021 in order to meet the higher immigration targets. British Columbia has been highly proactive when it comes to inviting skilled candidates into the province who will be able to meet the labor demands of the market.

On June 1, British Columbia held a PNP draw via the Tech Pilot program to invite a total of 68 candidates. Now, the province has successfully issued 4,876 invitations via the Provincial Nominee Program or PNP this year alone.

Details of the draw

British Columbia issued 68 invitations to candidates with professional experience in the technology and IT sectors. The selected candidates will now have to submit their applications for a provincial nomination within a fixed window.

The selected candidates fulfilled the eligibility requirements of the province’s Skills Immigration and Express Entry British Columbia categories. This draw specifically targeted candidates from the International Graduate and Skilled Worker subcategories with a minimum score of 80.

The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) issued these invitations via the Tech Pilot. Introduced in 2017, this pilot project aimed to bring more tech workers into the province to boost the industry. After being extended multiple times, this pilot is set to become a permanent program under British Columbia PNP.

It will still cater to international students and in-demand tech workers who are looking to secure permanent residence in the province. In order to be eligible, candidates must complete their registration in any of the immigration streams offered by British Columbia and have a valid job offer for a year at the very least in any of the 29 listed occupations.
