British Columbia issues invitations to 67 immigration candidates during Tech Pilot draw

The Canadian province of British Columbia distributed invitations among 67 candidates during a new Tech Pilot draw that took place on September 8. People belonging to the Express Entry and Skills Immigration streams were eligible to receive invitations to apply for a provincial nomination. Successful candidates will now have an advantage if they are looking to secure permanent residence in the near future.

The BC PNP Tech Pilot is favored by in-demand tech workers and international students since it is a fast-track immigration pathway. The Tech Pilot candidates who received invitations from the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) already had a job offer spanning at least one year in any of the pilot’s 29 in-demand occupations.

The September 8 draw issued invitations to apply for a provincial nomination to international students and foreign tech workers via the BC PNP. Candidates belonging to the Skilled Worker and International Graduate categories under the Express Entry BC (EEBC) and Skills Immigration streams were favored.

Requirements

All the selected candidates were required to have a provincial score of at least 80, irrespective of their subcategory. Candidates belonging to the Express Entry BC categories will receive an additional 600 CRS points if their application for provincial nomination is accepted. As a result, they are almost guaranteed an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence in Canada during a federal Express Entry draw.

Candidates in the Skills Immigration categories who received invitations will have their applications for permanent residence processed by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) if British Columbia provides them with a provincial nomination.

People looking to apply under the Skills Immigration or Express Entry BC categories should create a profile via the BC PNP’s online portal and register themselves in the Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS).
