British Columbia distributes 430 invitations during new PNP draw

The Canadian province of British Columbia issued invitations to over 430 immigration candidates who will now be able to apply for a provincial nomination.

The draw was held on September 1 and invited candidates who want to attain Canadian permanent residence. Skilled workers, entrepreneurs, and international graduates were included in the draw, and the selected candidates will be able to apply for a provincial nomination. The coronavirus pandemic has created problems for Canadian immigration, but the provinces continue to persist.

Details of the draw

Invitations were assigned to Skilled Worker and International Graduate candidates belonging to the Skills Immigration (SI), Express Entry BC (EEBC), and Entrepreneur streams. The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) is still excluding professions related to tourism, retail, personal services, and hospitality. The COVID-19 pandemic has caused widespread unemployment in these industries, which is why the province cannot reinstate the regular measures yet.

Requirements:

The EEBC category is targeted at candidates who have a valid profile in the Express Entry system under the federal government system. Express Entry is the primary pathway for skilled immigrants who want to obtain Canadian permanent residence. On the other hand, the SI category is meant for skilled and semi-skilled workers whose jobs are in high demand in British Columbia.

The minimum score requirements for the draw were between 76 and 98 for the EEBC and SI categories included. The minimum scores were the following:

  • EEBC — Skilled Worker: 94
  • EEBC — International Graduate: 98
  • SI — Skilled Worker: 94
  • SI — Entry Level and Semi-Skilled: 76
  • SI — International Graduate: 98

EEBC candidates should register with the Immigration Registration System (SIRS) in British Columbia and the federal Express Entry system

Express Entry candidates who manage to secure a provincial nomination get an extra 600 points added to their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score.
