British Columbia distributes 302 invitations during PNP draw

Canadian provinces have been doing an excellent job of maintaining immigration practices during the coronavirus crisis.

British Columbia recently issued invitations to 302 immigration candidates during a draw held on August 18. Successful candidates will now be able to submit their provincial nomination applications for permanent residence.

Details of the draw

Candidates belonging to the International Graduates and Skilled Workers categories received invitations during the draw. They were a part of the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP)’s Express Entry BC (EEBC) and Skills Immigration (SI) streams. The draw also saw candidates belonging to the Semi-skilled Workers and Skills Immigration.

The BC PNP Express Entry categories can be accessed by all candidates with a profile in the Express Entry system. Express Entry evaluates candidates on the basis of several human capital factors like age, education, work experience, and language proficiency. The SI category is particularly aimed at skilled and semi-skilled workers who work in professions that are in high demand in British Columbia.

Requirements

If candidates want to get an invitation via the EEBC, they should be registered with the federal Express Entry system as well as the province’s Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS). On the other hand, Skills Immigration candidates only have to be registered under the SIRS.

The August 18 draw recorded minimum score requirements between 76 and 98 for the EEBC and SI categories taken into account. The distribution pattern was as follows:

  • SI — International Graduate: 98
  • SI — Skilled Worker: 96
  • SI — Entry Level and Semi-Skilled: 76
  • EEBC — International Graduate: 98
  • EEBC — Skilled Worker: 96

British Columbia has invited almost 6,000 immigration candidates this year, giving them the opportunity to obtain a provincial nomination.
