Alberta Organizes New PNP Draw to Issue 148 Invitations

Alberta has been organizing Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draws regularly in 2021 to invite larger batches of skilled candidates. On June 29, Alberta hosted its latest draw and issued a total of 148 invitations. Alberta focused on inviting immigration candidates in the Express Entry pool. The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score required for people to receive invitations was 302.

Details of the draw

The Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) wants to encourage candidates to apply for a provincial nomination via the provincial Express Entry stream. Compared to other PNP draws in June, the June 29 draw had a higher CRS requirement and fewer eligible candidates.

The Alberta Express Entry stream lets the provincial governments go through the Express Entry candidate pool and select the people who would be able to meet the labor needs of the province. Candidates have to create an Express Entry profile if they want to be eligible for a nomination from AINP.

Alberta resumed its invitation around back in January 2021, and a total of 2,432 Express Entry candidates have received invitations since then. The invited candidates can submit their applications for a provincial nomination. Candidates look forward to becoming provincial nominees because they receive 600 extra CRS points and gain a competitive advantage over other candidates in the pool.

Alberta will be able to issue 6,250 nomination certificates this year. It is important to remember that an invitation does not guarantee a provincial nomination. The applicants have to meet the eligibility criteria for the nomination. On the other hand, nominees are also not guaranteed to become permanent residents, but most of them do.
