Alberta Organizes New PNP Draw to Issue 148 Invitation

All the Canadian provinces have been holding regular draws to invite more skilled candidates who will be able to boost the economy after the coronavirus pandemic.

Alberta has made the details of its latest immigration draw held on July 27 publicly available. A total of 148 eligible Express Entry candidates received invitations to apply for a provincial nomination from the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) on the day. The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score required for candidates to be selected was 300. This was a significant drop as compared to other Alberta Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draws. The invited candidates will be able to submit their applications for a provincial nomination via the Express Entry stream of Alberta.

How does Alberta issue invitations?

The Alberta Express Entry stream allows the provincial government to search the Express Entry pool of candidates for people with the ideal skillset for the provincial labor market. The province can then invite the best candidates to apply for a provincial nomination. Having a provincial nomination can prove to be very beneficial for candidates because they get an advantage over other candidates. Provincial nominees receive an additional 600 extra CRS points automatically.

Alberta will be able to issue a total of 6,250 nomination certificates this year. The province has already distributed 2,761 invitations among Express Entry candidates. Alberta had stopped hosting invitation rounds in the last few months of 2020 and resumed the process in January this year. So far, the province has been doing an excellent job of streamlining the process.
