Alberta Issued Invitations To Express Entry Candidates

Alberta issued all its assigned nominations last year by June which is why the province could not distribute any invitations in the second half of 2020. However, the province has begun 2021 on a positive note.

Alberta already held one draw in the first half of January 2021 and now it has released information about a second draw that took place on January 28.

Details of the draw

With all the Canadian provinces aiming to invite more eligible workers into the country this year, Alberta is also targeting a high number of immigrants. The Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program or AINP distributed 100 invitations among skilled Express Entry candidates. The minimum CRS score required for the candidates was 360.

Selected candidates will now be able to submit an application for a provincial nomination via the Alberta Express Entry Stream. Alberta prioritizes work experience when it comes to selecting candidates through the Provincial Nominee Program or PNP. There is a specific list of professions that Alberta will not take into consideration.

The candidates who manage to secure a provincial nomination from Alberta will have an extra 600 points added to the score. As a result, they will be much more likely to receive an invitation during the next Express Entry draw.

If you want to become a part of a PNP, you must enter the Express Entry pool to begin with. Immigration candidates are then evaluated by the AINP and assigned points accordingly. Certain factors such as age, professional experience, language abilities and education determine the score received by a candidate.

It is yet to be seen how many provincial nominations Alberta will issue in 2021.
