72 Workers Received Invitations from Ontario Immigration Draw

One of the primary reasons Canadian provinces want to invite skilled candidates is to fill the existing labor gaps. A functioning economy requires adequate workers in all occupations and the provinces issue invitations to candidates who have professional experience in occupations requiring more employees.

The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) regularly organizes In-Demand Skills stream draws to invite candidates in their targeted occupations. The In-Demand Skills Stream is largely dependent on provincial demand as opposed to occupation skill level. Ontario has labor shortages in both “high skilled” and “low skilled” professions.

International workers can submit their application for a provincial nomination from Ontario if they manage to secure eligible job offers. They are also required to have 9 months of total work experience in Ontario in the last three years. Ontario evaluates candidates on the basis of their educational qualifications, language skills, settlement funds and more.

Details of the draw

The province held its latest draw for candidates registered in this stream on September 22. A total of 72 Ontario immigration candidates received invitations to apply for a provincial nomination.

The general draw saw 65 candidates receiving invitations. There was a separate draw for candidates in the (Regional) Ontario Immigration Pilot, and 7 candidates were invited. Ontario did not set up an Expression of Interest (EOI) score requirement.

Ontario has recently switched out its old first-come-first-served EOI model for a new EOI system. Now, candidates have the freedom to complete their registration any time they want if they are interested in participating in the Ontario Immigration (PNP — Provincial Nominee Program).
