557 candidates receive ITAs during Express Entry Draw
The Express Entry system has been operating even in times of the pandemic.
An Express Entry draw organized by Canada on July 22 led to the distribution of 557 invitations among Express Entry candidates who would be allowed to apply for permanent residence. So far, Canada has invited 54,357 immigration candidates in 2020.
The July 22 draw was the 9th PNP-specific draw to be held since the country shut down its borders in March. The rounds of invitation that have been organized via the Express Entry system since the shutdown alternated between targeting provincially nominated candidates and Canadian Experience Class (CEC) candidates. The first all-program draw since the pandemic was held earlier in July.

Candidates who had managed to secure a nomination from the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) were the only ones to get invited for the latest draw. The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score required for candidates to qualify was 687 since the candidates had already received an additional 600 points. It happened to be the lowest CRS score requirement for a PNP-specific draw in 2020.
The Express Entry candidates already had a provincial nomination prior to this round of invitations. The extra 600 points were added to their overall score. The candidates who got an Invitation to Apply (ITA) in the draw were required to have a minimum CRS score of 87 without the nomination points.
Recent draws have seen Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) use the tie-break procedure to rank candidates with the same CRS score. This draw was no exception. The tie-break rule applied to this draw used November 11, 2019, at 8:51:21 UTC as the reference. Candidates who had CRS score above 687 received an ITA in this round as long as they submitted their profiles before the stipulated date and time.
