11 Communities Announced for the Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot
In a recent announcement, the Canadian government decided to move forward with its Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot program. 11 communities were categorized under IRCC’s Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot, which means that preparations have already begun. It is expected that these communities who are from Ontario and Canada’s other Western provinces will lay the groundwork for the rest of the country to follow suit. The 11 Canadian communities were chosen by the Government of Canada to participate in the new Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot.
The purpose of the pilot is to help small rural communities to progress along with the rest of the country. Remote areas fall behind sometimes because they do not attract a steady influx of immigrants. The pilot has been designed in such a way that it will help these communities to entice foreign workers who will want to take permanent residence. The immigrants can have various skill levels, and the government will grant them residence in these areas.
According to the data provided by the Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), the rural communities in Canada are responsible for employing more than four million Canadians. This stands for around 30% of the national GDP of Canada.
